Karl Latham’s Living Standards is the result of his ever-evolving creative vision—bringing together top-tier musicianship with a sound that connects with a broad audience. The group blends dynamic improvisation and adventurous rhythms with classic hits from the 1960s and 70s, reimagining them through a jazz lens. It’s high-level artistry with wide appeal—think of it as “Jazz for Everyone.”

Karl Latham: is a highly acclaimed drummer known for his work with Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and Grammy-winning artists. He has performed with The Shirelles (Music Director), Johnny Winter, Edgar Winter, Bernie Worrell, Rachel Z, Mark Egan, and The Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Stars, he has toured for decades with Wolfgang Lackerschmid and Johannes Mossinger.  Karl has subbed on Hamilton, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Ain’t Too Proud, Two Strangers and more.

 

Keyboardist Rob Aries toured and recorded with guitarist John Scofield with Dennis Chambers and Gary Grainger. He played and recorded with Special EFX, Bill Evans, Eliane Elias, Melba Moore and Freddie Jackson. Rob produced and co-wrote Donald Harrison’s CTI release “The Power of Cool”, and Cornelius Bumpus’s “Known Fact.” He toured with the Average White Band, 2013 until their retirement in 2024.

 

Mitch Stein: Guitarist Mitch Stein has shared the stage with legends such as Tania Maria, David Sanborn, The Brecker Brothers, Bill Evans, Randy Brecker, and Adam Holzman, and Patti Austin. Known for his versatile style, Stein brings deep groove and improvisational fire to every performance.

 

Calvin X Jones: Bassist Calvin X Jones has performed with an impressive list of jazz greats, including Patti Austin, Don Braden, Tom Browne, Donald Byrd, Pharoah Sanders, and Max Roach. His Broadway credits include Bring ‘N Da Noise, Bring ‘N Da Funk, Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues, and The Janis Joplin Show and Cats: The Jellicle Ball.
