John Lee and Friends

From 1984 through 1993, John Lee was Dizzy Gillespie’s bassist. Currently, he serves as both bassist and director for the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars, the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, and the Dizzy Gillespie Afro-Latin Experience. John’s distinguished career has seen him perform and collaborate with renowned artists including Gary Bartz, Larry Coryell, Jon Faddis, Aretha Franklin, Roberta Gambarini, Roy Hargrove, Jimmy Heath, Gregory Hines, Miriam Makeba, James Moody, Claudio Roditi, Sonny Rollins, and McCoy Tyner. A Grammy-winning record producer and audio engineer, John has produced more than 100 recordings. He also co-founded the Jazz Legacy Productions (JLP) label.

 

Alex Collins (Piano)

In 2003, Alex received the Wynton Kelly Jazz Foundation Award and later, joined the Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead program. Heading his own trio, Alex has performed with prominent artists like Ronnie Burrage, Don Braden, Michelle Coltrane, Gerry Gibbs, Karl Latham, John Lee, Lonnie Plaxico, Lenny White, the Dizzy Gillespie All-Stars, and the Dizzy Gillespie Big Band.

 

Fredie Hendrix (Trumpet)

Freddie has become one of the most sought-after trumpeters in Jazz and beyond. Hailing from Teaneck, New Jersey, his exceptional musicianship has connected him with world-renowned artists and ensembles, including the Count Basie Orchestra, Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Alicia Keys.

 

Karl Latham (Drums)

A Trenton, New Jersey native, Karl has collaborated with acclaimed musicians including Claudio Roditi, Slide Hampton, Clark Terry, Don Braden, Vic Juris, Edgar Winter, and The Shirelles. His career as a sideman is highlighted by contributions to various recordings. Karl has also led the creation of three albums: “Dancing Spirits,” “Resonance,” and “Living Standards.”

 

Seatings at 6:15 and 8:35, $40 food & drink minimum per person. $8 entertainment fee. Reservations strongly recommended.
