In an eera of overproduced artifice, the trio known as 3Fold operates with a refreshing, almost defiant restraing. Drawing from a deep well of soul music traditions, the group’s sond is less about the frantic pace of the moment and more about the resonance of what is left behind.
The ensemble’s chemistry is anchored by Eric Brown, whose dual role as drummer and vocalist dictates the band’s rhythmic and melodic DNA.
Brown’s steady, purposful grooves provide a foundation for the fluid low-end of bassist Mike Griot, whose contributions lend the arrangements a grounded, sensitive warmth.
Completing the trio is keyboardist John Roggie, whose experience manifests in a sophisticated use of texture. Roggie doesn’t merely play chords, he paints atmospheres, filling the margins with a seasoned sense of timing and taste that honors the genre’s rich history.
