“The Alex Laurenzi Trio brings together the creative energy of bassist Solomon Gottfried and drummer Connor Parks with alto saxophonist Alex Laurenzi. Based in New York City, the trio’s repertoire combines some of Alex’s original music with more familiar jazz standards, delivered in a continuous set that blends the repertoire together. Following in the spirit of trios led by jazz legends Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, and Bill Evans to name a few, the trio’s commitment to melody, interplay, and improvisation ensures that every performance is spontaneous and singular.
For this performance, Alex invites special guest, trumpeter Noah Halpern. Noah is one of the dynamic young voices on the trumpet in the New York jazz scene, having played with the likes of Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Jason Moran, Ulysses Owens Jr., Lalah Hathaway, Knower, New Jazz Underground, and many others. Noah was the winner of the 2023 ITG Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Competition. Noah is also a member of Alex’s Water Lilies Suite, a project based on Claude Monet’s works.”
